§ 23-171. One-way streets and alleys.

  • It shall be unlawful for a person to operate a motor vehicle on a one-way street or alley except in the direction designated for the movement of traffic thereon. The following one-way streets within the city are hereby designated:

    (1)

    Traffic around the public square of the city shall be one-way only, all cars entering thereon keeping to the right. Provided, however, that any person not desiring to enter upon the square may make a left turn at any corner thereof for the purpose of avoiding the square.

    (2)

    Wiggins Street from Main Street to Maple Avenue shall be one-way with all vehicles preceding thereon from east to west.

    (3)

    The alley between Main Street and Grant Street running north and south from Chestnut Street to Ninth Street shall be one-way with all vehicles preceding thereon from south to north.

    (4)

    The alley running north and south between Second Street and Central Avenue and lying between Main Street and Lyon Street shall be one-way with all vehicles proceeding thereon from north to south.

    (5)

    Budlong Street between Clinton Street and Grand Avenue shall be one-way with all vehicles proceeding thereon from east to west.

    (6)

    Seventh Street between Grant Street and Main Street shall be one-way with all vehicles proceeding thereon from west to east.

    (7)

    The alley running north and south between Mound Street and Central Avenue lying between Garrison Avenue and McGregor Street shall be two-way traffic with a right turn only designation.
