§ 21-14. Skateboarding.

  • (a)

    No person shall operate a skateboard or similar device upon any street or sidewalk in an area zoned as district D, local business district, or district E, general business district, within the city, nor shall any person operate a skateboard or similar device upon any sidewalk adjacent to nonresidential property within the city unless granted permission by the adjacent property owner. It shall not be a violation of this subsection if the person operates the skateboard upon the city street; as a mode of transportation from a point A to point B, not for recreation, and operates the skateboard in safe and prudent manner.

    (b)

    No person shall operate any skateboard or similar device upon any private property or school property unless specifically granted permission by the owner or possessor of such property. In addition to penalties set by the general penalty ordinance of the Carthage Code, any person found in violation of this section may have his or her skateboard impounded for a period of up to thirty (30) days.
