§ 4-10. Immunization of dogs and cats.

  • (a)

    Every person owning or exercising control over any dog or cat within the city shall have such animal vaccinated with antirabies serum on or before January 1 of each year. The city shall not issue any license to the owner of any dog until such dog is vaccinated as herein provided and proof thereof established by a certificate from a veterinarian.

    (b)

    Feral cat colony caretakers shall make every reasonable effort to provide for booster rabies vaccines to be given to all applicable cats in the colony beginning one (1) year after the initial vaccine has been administered.

    (c)

    All licensed veterinarians practicing within the city who administer rabies vaccines to dogs or cats must require the purchase of a city dog or cat license prior to administering the vaccination.
