§ 2-56. Generally.

  • (a)

    At the first regular meeting of the council after the city election each year, or as soon thereafter as possible, the mayor shall appoint the hereinafter named standing committees, subject to the approval of the council, which committees shall continue until the next regular annual organization of the council, unless abrogated in the manner hereinafter specified.

    (b)

    The standing committees herein provided for shall be subject to change with the consent of the council at any time during the term of their existence, if deemed necessary for the public good; and if any vacancy shall occur on any committee, for any reason the same shall be filled in the same manner as original appointments are made. The standing committees shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Budget/ways and means.

    (2)

    Public safety.

    (3)

    Insurance/audit and claims.

    (4)

    Public works.

    (5)

    Public service.
